150 Fine Craft Artisans to Showcase Works September 20-22
After much anticipation, The American Craft Exposition (ACE) announces the 150 fine craft artists selected to exhibit their work at the annual fall exposition September 20-22 at the Chicago Botanic Garden.
This year, ACE received more than 400 applications from artists across the country. The names of all 150 invited artists can be found here.
“We are excited to see a new variety of fine, contemporary craft pieces at ACE this year,” said Buggie O’Grady, ACE 2019 Co-Chair. “Each artist was hand-picked because they bring something unique and awe-inspiring to the table. Some artists are fan favorites, others are brand new to our region. The variety of work at this year’s show is truly unique.”
In addition to exhibiting and selling their works September 20-22, these artists are eligible to win a variety of judged awards including Best of Show, Best New Artist, Artistic Expression, Founders’ Award, and Show Directors’ Award.
This year’s ACE show is co-chaired by O’Grady (Northfield) and Nancy Semerdjian (Wilmette). ACE is presented by The Auxiliary of NorthShore University HealthSystem.
ACE features unique, museum-quality pieces spanning multiple mediums such as basketry, ceramics, fiber decorative, fiber wearable, furniture, glass, jewelry, leather, metal, mixed media, paper, and wood.
All proceeds from ACE 2019 support the Psychiatric Urgent Care Program and Collaborative Care Model at NorthShore University HealthSystem. These programs aim to provide immediate mental health care to those who need it, as well as help primary care physicians provide mental health services to families. “Across the U.S. mental health patients have to wait up to six months to receive the help they need, and that is unacceptable,” said Semerdjian. “This program aims to reduce that wait time to 48 hours locally. ACE 2018 raised over $560,000 for this important program. We want to match or exceed that this year.”
The 35th Annual American Craft Exposition takes place at the Chicago Botanic Garden on September 20-22, 2019. September 20-22 show tickets are on sale now: www.americancraftexpo.org/the-show/tickets. Tickets to the September 19 Benefit Preview Party are available here: www.americancraftexpo.org/the-show/preview-party
About ACE 2019 Funding: Proceeds from ACE 2019 will support increased access to psychiatric services at NorthShore through the creation of a Psychiatric Urgent Care Program and the implementation of a Collaborative Care Model.
