ACE’s new home at the Chicago Botanic Garden is sure to delight artists and visitors alike. We thought we would take a few minutes to introduce our readership to some fun facts about the Garden:Stunning scenery at the Chicago Botanic Garden

  1. The Chicago Botanic Garden opened in 1972 as a beautiful place to visit, and it has matured into one of the world’s great living museums, teaching gardens, and conservation science centers.
  2. The Garden has 26 display gardens and 4 natural areas on 385 acres on and around 9 islands, with 6 miles of lake shoreline.
  3. Admission is free.  Visitors can bike, walk, or take public transportation to the Garden and those that drive pay only a parking fee.
  4. In 2013 and 2014, the Chicago Botanic Garden welcomed more than 1 million visitors. From 2005 – 2014, attendance to the Garden grew by 52%.
  5. The Garden has an incredible array of events planned for this summer and throughout the year, including ACE!
  6. It has one of the largest memberships of any botanic garden in the United States at 50,000many of which we hope will join us at ACE this year!
  7. In 2014, more than 200 volunteers gave over 107,000 hours of service.
  8. The Garden is one of only 17 botanic gardens in the USA accredited by the American Association of Museums as a living museum for its collection of over 2.6 million plants. More than 250,000 plants move through the Garden’s plant production facilities annually.
  9. The Chicago Botanic Garden offers hundreds of classes for students from ages preK through adulthood through the Joseph Regenstein, Jr. School.
  10. The Garden is home to the Daniel F. and Ada L. Rice Plant Conservation Science Center where more than 200 scientists and graduate students from Northwestern University conduct a wide array of plant research.
